• We began our preparation for the Coalition’s second decade in early 1997 with an organizational renewal process.

• That process resulted in the selection of three goals for the future.

• Youthful Substance Abuse.
• Drug related violence and its impact on youth.
• Implications of Welfare Reform on substance abuse and violence in our community.

• The first goal of reducing youthful substance abuse has been developed as Priority One, a community prevention plan
