We will provide specific funding opportunities pertaining to substance abuse and youth violence as we learn about them.

The Center For Disease Control and Prevention, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has released its"Youth '97 Risk Behavior Survey". This survey instrument can be obtained on compact disc for free. It tracks data taken from a school survey administered biennially to youth in grades 9 - 12. The data is organized according to the following categories: injuries; tobacco use; alcohol and other drug use; sexual behaviors; dietary behaviors; and physical activity. It is easy to graph specific findings and draw many comparisons. GREAT FOR USE with substantiating needs for funding; encouraging collaboration among agencies and organizations; helping educate communities about the depth and breath of a problem; and for use in program planning and policy making. For more information or to order up to 20 free copies of the disc, call 770 488-3258, e-mail ccdinfo@cdc.gov, or check out the CDC website at http://www.cdc.gov/nccdphp/dash/yrbs/ov.htm.
