Impact Objectives
- Impact Objective I.
Reduce the prevalence of current substance use among youth in Miami-Dade County.
- Impact Objective 2.
Prevent or at least delay the onset of first-time use of substances.
Strategy Objectives
- Strategy Objective I.
Increase the perceived harmfulness among youth in the use of different illegal drugs (marijuana, Rohypnol, GHB, LSD, cocaine), as well as alcohol, tobacco, and inhalants.
- Strategy Objective 2.
Increase the rate among youth of those disapproving of friends' regular use of marijuana, Rohypnol, GHB, LSD, cocaine, alcohol, tobacco, and inhalants.
- Strategy Objective 3.
Reduce the rate of perceived prevalence of friends' current use of marijuana, Rohypnol, GHB, LSD, cocaine, alcohol, tobacco, and inhalants among local youth.
Program Objectives
- Program Objective 1.
Increase the ability of parents and adults to discourage drug use to our youth.
- Program Objective 2.
Increase the capacity for youth to influence other youth not to use drugs and to intervene in situations in which drug use is present.
- Program Objective 3.
Continue and enhance the community's vigorous and successful anti-drug media and public information campaign, which has led the nation for the past five years.
- Program Objective 4.
Support and enhance school-based prevention programs.
- Program Objective 5.
Promote and support community-based prevention and intervention programs.
- Program Objective 6
Distribute information on the negative consequences of drug legalization on youth.
- Program Objective 7
Increase effective and accessible treatment for youthful
drug abusers
- Program Objective 8
Create a local Drug Abuse Toxicology Network which
will issue frequent updates on the risks and dangers of local drug abuse patterns among youth to prevention specialists and parents.
- Program Objective 9.
Enhance the evaluation component for all activities within The Miami Coalition.
- Program Objective 10.
Assist local programs, initiatives and Coalition members in developing evaluation tools over a 5-year period.
