The 15 Objectives of Priority One
are divided as follows:


2 Impact Objectives target quantified, measurable outcomes.

3 Strategy Objectives focus on local determinates of youthful drug use.

    Impact Objectives

  1. Impact Objective I.
    Reduce the prevalence of current substance use among youth in Miami-Dade County.

  2. Impact Objective 2.
    Prevent or at least delay the onset of first-time use of substances.

    Strategy Objectives


  3. Strategy Objective I.
    Increase the perceived harmfulness among youth in the use of different illegal drugs (marijuana, Rohypnol, GHB, LSD, cocaine), as well as alcohol, tobacco, and inhalants.

  4. Strategy Objective 2.
    Increase the rate among youth of those disapproving of friends' regular use of marijuana, Rohypnol, GHB, LSD, cocaine, alcohol, tobacco, and inhalants.

  5. Strategy Objective 3.
    Reduce the rate of perceived prevalence of friends' current use of marijuana, Rohypnol, GHB, LSD, cocaine, alcohol, tobacco, and inhalants among local youth.

    Program Objectives


  6. Program Objective 1.
    Increase the ability of parents and adults to discourage drug use to our youth.

  7. Program Objective 2.
    Increase the capacity for youth to influence other youth not to use drugs and to intervene in situations in which drug use is present.

  8. Program Objective 3.
    Continue and enhance the community's vigorous and successful anti-drug media and public information campaign, which has led the nation for the past five years.

  9. Program Objective 4.
    Support and enhance school-based prevention programs.

  10. Program Objective 5.
    Promote and support community-based prevention and intervention programs.

  11. Program Objective 6
    Distribute information on the negative consequences of drug legalization on youth.

  12. Program Objective 7
    Increase effective and accessible treatment for youthful drug abusers

  13. Program Objective 8
    Create a local Drug Abuse Toxicology Network which will issue frequent updates on the risks and dangers of local drug abuse patterns among youth to prevention specialists and parents.

  14. Program Objective 9.
    Enhance the evaluation component for all activities within The Miami Coalition.

  15. Program Objective 10.
    Assist local programs, initiatives and Coalition members in developing evaluation tools over a 5-year period.
